Hi everyone,
We are back! And we have something new we want to share with you…
In this opportunity we are going to be talking about the cultural iceberg model. You may be wondering “what you mean whit that?”
Well, for first, because you probably don't know, the cultural iceberg model is a creative way of representing cultures. This model try to explain us that all the different cultures are like an iceberg, because you always have things that you could see but there are a lot of customs or traditions that you maybe don’t realize. It suggests us that, like an iceberg, we only see a small percentage of what is really there.
Now, you can appreciate a drawing made by us where you can see some representative things of France and, of course it's culture.

Guys, here we have a draw of the behaviour of France, in other words, those things that we always hear or think when someone is talking about this amazing country. For example, the Eiffel Tower which is a special monument and is known like a symbol of romanticism, where the couples celebrate them love. Also you can appreciate the Louvre museum which contains some of the most spectacular works of art in the world, or the Triumphal Arch representing the victories of the French army. We assume that all these things represent the French culture because when we think about it, we believe that France is the country of love, victory and even where you can find beautiful works of art and much more.

HI THERE!
here we have certain frequently asked questions about french culture:

- Is it true that all French people are unfriendly and rude with foreigners?

This stereotype was created because, as in many parts of the world, in France there are also rude people who are not kind, not only with foreigners but also with people from their own country, however it is clear that not all are like that, in fact many people who say that the French are friendly and try to be supportive and help tourists when they need it.

 - Do the French really criticize everything?

it is true that in France they are very critical from a young age, it is inculcated in the French to question everything and to debate everything, with the purpose of understanding their environment and what happens, however it is also common in France to complain to create empathy with the others.

- Is it common in French culture not to say goodbye when leaving a meeting?

This is false, really very few people in France do it, if they are in a meeting with many people they will probably miss one or another person, however it is not something common.

Hi guys! , in today's post we bring you the comparison between our culture and the French culture that we like so much

We looked up at that there are many differences between French and Colombian culture, among those differences the way of greeting, the French tend to kiss each cheek and sometimes certain people decide to walk out the meetings when there are many people suddenly, while that Colombians greet with a single kiss and say goodbye to the last person in the meeting. Secondly, the French avoid being very cold and distant with foreigners so that they do not take them for rude, although that is their personality with everyone, while in Colombia we are very welcoming and charismatic, we like to help and guide foreigners We like to spread our joy to them at all times and to sort out any problem that may arise while in our country. Thirdly, I consider that, just like the French, we like to question everything, in order to debate it and understand a specific situation much better, however, we believe that this is more common in France, but yes, Colombians like turned to be right! To conclude, it is clear that these two countries have work out in different ways, so its evident that their culture is not so similar to ours, but Undoubtedly, both are unique and special to their form, we recommend you dear readers, that before letting yourself be carried away by all the stereotypes that exist about the French culture or other culture, do not make judgments until you live your own experience, this way you will be able to have your own point of view.

 See you soon, stay tuned

Hi everyone!
Today we bring you new content, regarding a very interesting topic such as the Lewis model and how with this model we can see how much compatibility exists between one culture and another.

We were researching about French culture and we realized that this culture are between being multi-active and linear active, however, it is more inclined to be multi-active, which means that they are a bit orderly people, but not rigid, In other words, there is a certain flexibility, French culture has the ability to perform different tasks at the same time, they are warm, emotional and impulsive. If we imagine that a Frenchman arrives in Barranquilla, Colombia, we believe that he would easily interact, because we are multi-active, therefore, we would have a similar behavior and the response would be favorable, because the Frenchman was able to adapt to the way of life of this city, although on the other hand, we know that the French also have a linear-active side, which would make it a bit difficult for the French to adapt to this life, because the way of interacting is a little different and they could clashes between cultures, for example, If there was a meeting, it is likely that the Colombian arrived late or just in time, while the French arrived at least 5 minutes earlier, the French will surely try to adapt but it will cost a little more.

Hi guys!

Today is another day and we have new information to update you. It's about:😝

HOFSTED´S CULTURAL DIMENSIONS

Based on Hofstede's model, the dissimilarities between France and Colombia can be determined according to the development of their different dimensions, so that the cultural behaviors of each group can be identified and the values that distinguish and represent each culture can be understood.

Below you will find the link of a video of us talking about each of the dimensions and comparing the cultures.

Hi beauty people!

We are back and we bring very informative content, this time we will talk about subcultures. We know you were hoping it!

In France it´s very easy to recognize two  different subcultures, they are:

THE URBAN TRIBE BOURGEOIS BOHEME:

In France is recognized the urban tribe Bourgeois Bohème who is a class of
people who rejects the bourgeois background (values of the upper class)
from which he or she comes and embraces that of a lower class like
bohemian lifestyle so as to not appear snobbish.

C vs F DIFERENT SUBCULTURES....

There is a big difference between France and Colombia when we talk about subcultures, first of all, after the research we carried out, we realized that Colombia has a great variety of subcultures, among them, the emo, the punks, Rastafarians, the floggers and The hipster, while in France the only one that is mentioned is the urban tribe Bourgeois Bohème, however, each subcultures have their own lifestyle, fashion, way of speaking and expressing themselves, finally, in Colombia these urban groups are composed mainly of adolescents or young people, while the aforementioned subculture that is seen in France, is composed of people from an ascending social group in the era of new technologies.

Hey guys!

Hope you're doing well
This is our last post about the amazing journey throught French culture... And we want to call it:

Memories of France

Where could we start? The idea of this blog was share to you a little bit about French culture, and we looked for the most important things or information to do our posts. So, when we were doing that, some questions came to us and we want to finish this trip with something especial, that comes from our reflections, you will like it.

  • What have we learned from the project?
  • What surprised us the most?
  • What did us enjoy the most?
  • What can we do with the information in our personal and professional future?

With this experience, knowlegde was built by our research and it helped us to keep us learning with all the activities. Now we know that a culture is more than only what you can see and they are represents in different types of models. Also, cultures are composed of customs and behaviours, and it's important that all of us begin to understand it, since this is closely linked to stereotypes.

Moreover, the most surprised thing was finding by the investigation of stereotypes, because there are a lot of thoughts about cultures and people that we could think is something normal to consider, but it isn't. Those things happen because people talk more than they actually know and they establish, according to certain thoughts, the behaviors and customs that must be managed in order to be "normal".

We enjoyed researching information about our culture and the one we decided, doing the posts and sharing to you this information that we think you could need. It was a great experience because we use it to learn and stop judging only by what little we can see, thus allowing us to have a better perspective and be less ignorant.

Finally, this information is going to help us in our personal and professional future, because with all the models we can see a different view about the customs and behaviours of an specific culture, and it will help with the personal and work relationships.

Guys, we hope you've enjoyed this journey as much as we do, we're going to miss you, and see you in another type of content.
